Crisis Intervention Team brochure (PDF)
The Lakeville Police Department is dedicated to helping our residents through mental health crises, both during the crisis and after. Not only do we have specially trained officers in the arena of mental health de-escalation, we have also partnered with Life Development Resources.
Life Development Resources is a Lakeville based Licensed Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Office. According to their website their stance on mental health is:
We believe that everyone benefits from the ability to work through the challenges of life with the right therapy. At Life Development Resources we strive to provide mental health services with respect and sensitivity. Our therapists combine our skills to effectively evaluate and treat many mental health issues including: Anxiety, Depression, Grief & Loss, Anger Management, Addictive Behaviors, Relationship Issues, PTSD, Sexual & Physical Abuse, Attention Deficit, Family of Origin, and much more.
The Lakeville Police Department sends its officers to Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training. CIT certification is a 40-hour intense and interactive program that presents an in-depth look at mental illness and its implications for police officers. CIT training covers the following:
Schizophrenia and psychotic disorders, mood disorders, cognitive disorders, personality and substance disorders, suicide assessment, adolescent and elder issues, PTSD and more.
One in five people will experience a mental health issue in their lifetime. Do not suffer in silence—help is available. Contact these available resources:
